Evan has been associated with the theatre for longer than he cares to remember and has performed many roles ranging from a child performer as Hansel in "Hansel and Gretel" through to the, now older, roles of Dick Deadeye in "HMS Pinafore", Lazar Wolfe in "Fiddler on the Roof" and Buffalo Bill in "Annie Get Your Gun". He also has a long history in Television and Movies as an actor or featured extra, appearing in many of the shows filmed in and around Melbourne over the last ten years. For a laugh in 2004 Evan broke the mould and became a fashion model for a couple of issues of FHM magazine. In the entertainment industry it pays not to take things too seriously. As Horace Walpole, noted philosopher of the 1700's, said "Life is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel." Evan joined Astral in 1998 and joined the Committee that same year. In 1999 he was elected Vice President followed by taking on the Presidency in 2000, a position he has held since then. He loves every aspect of getting a show up and running; from the first idea in the committee room through to the finished production on stage. One of his strongest ideals is that every task is important to the overall production, therefore, one must be willing to participate in any or all of the work required. After all. if you don't love what you are doing, why do it?
Gabe has been with Astral since 1999. She became secretary in 2000 and has been Production Co-ordinator for several shows as well as Director for the Mikado and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Gabe finally made her stage debut as Meg in Hannie Rayson’s "Hotel Sorrento" in 2006. Along with Sam Campagne , Evan Knoble, Kathy Hudson and Ron Kamoeon, Gabe was privileged to be a founding mentor for the developing ATYA Group (Astral Youth Theatre). Gabe’s duties include Production Co-ordinator, Licensing and Administration, She has also lent her hand to set design and construction, lighting, costume and the making of the odd cup of tea (though she prefers latte). Gabe is currently a secondary Art and Media teacher.
Kathy Hudson - Membership: Kathy started her involvement with amateur in 1994 with CEF in Mornington. Her first show with Astral was as Co-Director with Ron Kamoen of Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood in 1998. That was the year she married fellow Astralite, Andrew Hudson. Kathy returned to Astral after the birth of her two boys to co-direct with Ron again, Annie get Your Gun, in 2003. Although her main love is performing, Kathy believes that the more you know and experience the other facets of putting on a theatre show, the better it makes you as a performer and cast member. Webmaster, actor, graphic designer, cameraman. Damian loves the stage and has a background in IT, so when he's not acting (Hotel Sorrento, Seussical, Little Shop of Horrors amongst others) he's hacking away at the Astral web site and making excuses why it's not interactive yet! Damian teaches in his other life. |
